Middlesex Badminton Association is looking for a Membership Secretary
The Middlesex Badminton Executive Committee is looking to recruit a new volunteer Membership Secretary.
The Middlesex Badminton Executive Committee is a team of 10 volunteers who administer and manage the growth of badminton in Middlesex. We are now looking to recruit a new volunteer Membership Secretary to manage data relating to the players and clubs affiliated to Middlesex and/or play in its affiliated leagues.

Middlesex is considered to be the county north of the Thames, bounded by the Lea Valley in the east and the Colne river to the west. All clubs and players based within this area therefore 'belong' to Middlesex. There are over 6000 current or recent players on the spreadsheet and nearly 150 clubs. The data is sourced from Badminton England but is then processed and cleansed within Middlesex.

The challenge is to manage this process in order to increase the income generated from player affiliation fees, through reviewing and cleansing the data, liaising with Badminton England, league secretaries, other members of the executive and the individual clubs. It will also involve liaising with the website manager to identify system issues and agree improvements. You will need to have good Excel knowledge. You will also need to have knowledge of the structure of league and county badminton, possibly through playing or administering in some capacity. Attention to detail is a must-have, plus good communications skills to understand how other parties may prefer to receive information or queries.

The work of the Membership Secretary is very seasonal, peaking around October / November when most people renew their membership – so maybe half a day per week for 8 weeks. The rest of the year it's perhaps half a day per month. In addition the Executive Committee meets 6 times per year, each meeting requiring 1 day’s effort. So 15 days per annum in total.

If you feel you have the skills, and would like to 'give back' to your sport, please contact Jane Airey - secretary of MCBA.
